Roadworks change the drive to the British Normandy Memorial until October

The British Normandy Memorial has posted a travel warning for 2026. Major roadworks are under way at Ver-sur-Mer, and the main road heading north to south through the village towards Crepon is closed to traffic until October.

Vehicle access is from the coast instead. The memorial asks visitors to follow the D514 coast road and to approach either from Courseulles-sur-Mer to the east or from Arromanches and Asnelles to the west, rather than coming up to Ver-sur-Mer from the south.

That last point is the one worth settling before you leave. A satnav given the memorial as a destination will route you inland and up through the village, which is the approach that is shut, so pick the coast road yourself in both directions.

Practical notes

The warning sits on the memorial's own visitor page rather than on ours, so check it again before you set off in case the October date moves. The memorial itself is unaffected: only the drive to it changes. See where it sits on the interactive map.
