Juno Beach: The Canadian Sector

Juno Beach was assigned to the 3rd Canadian Infantry Division, who landed against heavy defences at Courseulles, Bernières and Saint-Aubin. Despite costly first waves, the Canadians pushed further inland than any other Allied force on D-Day.

The Juno Beach Centre at Courseulles is the natural starting point - Canada's museum on the Normandy coast, telling the story of the landings and the wider Canadian war effort.

Nearby, the seafront houses of Bernières-sur-Mer and the quay at Courseulles - where Churchill and de Gaulle later came ashore - recall the first hours of the liberation. The Canadians who did not survive rest at Bény-sur-Mer, a few kilometres inland.
