Comics go to war, a long run at the Airborne Museum

The Airborne Museum at Sainte-Mere-Eglise is showing a temporary exhibition called Comics go to war, which examines how American comic books served as a tool for propaganda and the promotion of national values during the Second World War.

It is not a summer show. The museum runs it from 14 May 2026 to 30 November 2027, which puts it in front of two more full seasons of visitors. Admission to the exhibition is included in the museum admission price.

The museum pitches it at families and at anyone with an interest in pop culture, and that is the useful part of it. A day spent on the drop zones and among the cemeteries around Sainte-Mere-Eglise is heavy going, and this is something a child can walk into and read.
